A Note From Our Vicar, Richard Poole

We can use the season of Lent to consider our present spiritual walk and see how we are shaping up in line with God’s plans and purposes for us. But beyond the here and now we also need to consider how well we are building and investing in our eternal future home in heaven.

When we consider our new Church, right from the start we have always taken the view that we should build as well as we possibly can. The reason for this is simply because we believe that God is worthy of the very best. This means that we have avoided taking shortcuts that might make life easier now but leave problems in the future.

Throughout we have refused to compromise on the quality and have paid close attention to detail because we want to build a church that will stand the test of time and bless generations of believers who will come after us as well as being a testimony to the faithfulness of our God.

But when we compare the building of the church to the building of our spiritual lives there are some clear parallels. We should aim to be building in the very best way we possibly can. We need to pay close attention to detail and refuse to compromise our faith in the situations we face at home or at work.
So, how is the spiritual building work going on in your life?

‘But each one should be careful how he builds. For no-one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light.’ (1 Corinthians 3:10-13)
