We Shall Tell The Next Generation The Praiseworthy Deeds Of The Lord
St. Andrew’s Church, Furnace Green
This Week’s Word From our Vicar Richard Poole
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! (Psalm 133:1)
Next week is Pentecost Sunday when we will be celebrating the birth of the Church and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Each year we mark this occasion with our special Churches Together in Tilgate and Furnace Green (TFG) service. This will be held at St. Bernadette’s Church in Tilgate. (7:00pm – 19 May). The service usually lasts less than an hour but is always a special occasion.
I hope like me, you see the members of churches throughout Crawley as our brothers and sisters in Christ. I believe that we at St. Andrew’s have an important part to play in strengthening the churches in TFG, and indeed throughout the town. If you can come please do make every effort to be there, because your attendance will help communicate the love and support we as a church have for all the churches.
Last Thursday I attended the Ascension Day service at St. Paul’s Cathedral, and on this occasion we were joined with a large delegation of senior clerics from the Methodist Church in Nigeria. It was good to be together, and I found myself praying for these men knowing that soon they will be returning to a country where violence towards Christians and Churches appears to be a daily occurrence. They need our prayers ... although they might think our nation needs their prayers!
In heaven there will be no Jew or Gentile, there will be no slave or free, and there will be no Baptist, Catholic, Methodist or Anglican...only Christian! If it’s going to be like that in heaven, well then we need to start living like that now!
