On this page we hope to bring as much information and pictures as possible of the St Andrews Building project. An update every day may not be possible but we will try to cover all significant developments as they happen. You can also check our webcam to see the latest progress.

5th March

Outwardly the building has not changed a great deal in the last month as most work has been going on inside the building. The floor has been poured and work has been progressing on cabling.

As of today the shelter over the section joining onto the school is being dismantled, which would indicate that the interface to the school is now watertight.

7th February

The recent snowy weather did not make work easy for our builders but things are now continuing once again. The roof tiling is going ahead and the pipes for the underfloor heating system are now laid.

Work is also taking place on the section of building that joins the existing school building.

Please pray for Richard, the Building Committee and the builders that progress continues.

7th January

Preparation work for the tiling of the roof has now taken place. Unfortunately it appears that the weather is holding up work now. Please pray for a quick end to the cold snap and for safety for the builders

13th December

Much of the brickwork is now in place and the building is taking shape. The roof is now largely boarded and the frame for the dormer window is now in place, as are the stained glass windows salvaged from the old St Andrews building.

Many thanks to the carpenters for the wooden cross they have fitted to the roof! Very appropriate as we come to the time to celebrate the birth of our Saviour who of course was, himself a carpenter.

29th November

Much more of the timber frame is now in place and scaffolding has been assembled. Brickwork is now being laid.

Many thanks to all those creating a photographic record of the construction of our new church.

14th November

Much of the timber frame is now up and the glulam roof beams are now in place.

A delivery of bricks has also arrived

Please pray for the project, the builders and safety on the site,  especially now the weather gets worse.

18th October

This past week saw the foundations and floor laid.

11th October

This week saw the first bricks and blocks being laid. The shape of the new church can now clearly be seen!

17th September

The car park is now finished and work is well underway on the footings .

25th August

For the last couple of days work has been going on to lay underground pipes.

21st August

Kerb stones being laid for main entrance now.

17th August

The church building is now fully demolished and rubble removed from the site. Work is now underway on the new entrance from Weald Drive

28th July

A scaffold tower has appeared outside the church in front of the cross. The stained glass windows have now been removed and a digger has cleared the remaining allotment area adjacent to the vicarage

27th July

Hilife have been working for a while on the inside of the building for a week or so now, carrying out the necessary health and safety work prior to demolition.

The area is now a construction site with no unauthorised entry.

The picker which will be used to nibble away at the building arrived today and we believe that its use is imminent. It can just be seen to the rear of the church.

As of today the stain glassed windows and the exterior cross are still fixed.

28th June

The last service (Open to God) is held at St Andrews.

Symbolically the first brick is removed by Rob Warren, who has been responsible for the upkeep of the building for many years
