Crawley Churches Website

The project’s team presents assemblies, runs school clubs, teaches RE lessons, and leads singing sessions in schools.

Assemblies

In assemblies, we aim at an engaging and sensitive presentation of the Christian message.

We are happy to fit in with the school’s theme for the week, if appropriate. We check proposed material with the school prior to undertaking the assembly or class, and ask schools to complete feedback questionnaires after each assembly/class.

Here are a selection of the comments that have been made about assemblies the team has presented:

‘The presentation was varied – holding the attention of the pupils and giving them different ways to receive the message.’

You used very clear language with the children.’

‘Time and effort had obviously been given to the presentation of the assembly, which was delivered in a very clear manner. Sensitivity was shown in particular to those aspects requiring it.’

‘The children always enjoy your assemblies, which are accessible and relevant.’

Lighthouse Club

The Lighthouse Project  runs lunchtime school clubs for Year 4 pupils in Middle Schools in Crawley, called the Lighthouse Club. At the Lighthouse Club, children explore stories from the Bible, using games, drama, storytelling, craft activities, etc. The children also sing songs and are able to pray if they want to. Children attend Lighthouse Club only with parental consent.

RE Lessons

The Lighthouse Project is available to take RE lessons. Schools often find it helpful to have visitors take RE lessons, as this enables children to ask questions and hear from people who are committed to the Christian message.

Singing Sessions

The Lighthouse Project is able to offer help in leading singing sessions in schools. These sessions would consist of Christian action songs, which engage the children’s interest, and provide an opportunity for the children to sing songs with a musician leading them.

The Lighthouse Project

Christian Ministry to the children in Crawley

Many schools find that Christian visitors can play a useful part in their assembly program, and the Lighthouse Project aims to provide support to schools in their assembly and RE programs.

The project is supported by a number of churches in Crawley, and the team includes Christians from a number of different churches. The project’s leader, David Jordan, works for the Vine Christian Fellowship, which has links with many other churches in the town.
